It’s Day 2 of our blog hop with Petaloo and we’re excited to showcase this beautiful project by one of our Canvas Corp Creative Crew members, Kimberly Newman. Kimberly brings to the team an eclectic vibe that is combines new and old to create a very fun vintage look. Up, Up and Away, Kimberly’s wreath became a beautiful centerpiece that is the perfect resting place for Kimberly’s Hot Air Balloon and vintage Santa. A mixture of cardstock, fabrics, burlap, canvas all combined into this fun mixed media project.
“I’m so excited to show you my wreath,I received 12 canvases (burlap and canvas) in three diffrent sizes and some fun embellishments from Canvas Corp. Petaloo sent some gorgeous flowers, lace they asked me to make a wreath and think outside the box… so I made a advent wreath with all the beautiful supplies….. I couldn’t just keep it as a wreath .. So I made it into a wreath hot air balloon centerpiece for my table…I love how it turned out. Thank you Canvas Corp and Petaloo!”
Kimberly’s wreath began with a traditional green holiday wreath for a base and she filled the space with a unique selection of gift packages (that seems to be a theme you will see all week – gift packages out of stretched canvas)…what a fun way to show off creative mixed media techniques. The clothespins are numbered to create the countdown advent calendar.
Pieces of burlap are woven to create the basket for Santa’s balloon. Kimberly does a great job mixing everyday items, craft items and unusual pieces to create one of a kind masterpieces. Next time you are ready to throw away all the packing material from your latest purchase, you might consider holding onto them for your next mixed media project.
Look for fun vintage pieces such as this great Santa that Kimberly found to finish off your holiday projects. What is old is new again and with this great centerpiece as a home for the holidays Santa is sure to take good care of all of us.
