Holiday Wreath with Canvas Corp & Petaloo: Day 5

It’s day 5 of our holiday wreath blog hop with Petaloo and we are excited to show another amazing project.  This one is by Misty Russell another of the Canvas Corp Creative Crew.  Her style has been changing but for right now she would  label herself most as artsy and grunge and if that is how you she would describe her project…..we love Arsty/Grunge!!!!!  Why does a wreath have to be round when oval is the prefect shape for this wreath, bound by wings on each side and a great message “Believe”

“When I recieved my petaloo goodies I was really inspired by the soft creamy feathers that I received in my package. Instantly, I knew that I wanted to create angel wings!! Considering I only had 1 package of the feathers I knew I would need to improvise. Thankfully, I had Canvas Corp canvas which was the perfect solution!”    To create the the wings, Misty used a chipboard sheet and traced and cut out some wing shapes. Then started layering torn strips of canvas and tulle. She saved the top of the wings and decided to dress them up with some of the beautiful Petaloo flowers (covered with a little gesso), and then used some of Tattered Angels High Impact Paint in antique gold to give it a warm aged look.

To finish it off, Misty fussy cut some of the cute paper dolls from the 7gypsies Santa’s Journey Papers and used 7gypsies chipboard letters over the canvas corp triangles  and created the “Believe” banner.  Adding a little paint to the chipboard letters and the burlap stretched gave them the perfect style for this amazing wreath.  The High Impact Paint was designed to stand up to the texture of burlap and this project shows it off so well.
